Our friend Joanie donated a 500 gallon water tank to us. We put the tank next to the well and hooked the water tank up to the garden and chicken coup water line.
We set up the drip irrigation for our garden. We realized unfortunately that we did not have enough pressure from the water tank to push the water through the drip irrigation
We decided to use gravity to create the water pressure. We moved the 500 gallon water storage tank to on top of the metal storage container. We hoped that the extra 12 ft would be able to create the pressure needed for the drip irrigation.
In order to get the water from the tank to the water lines we had to dig an 80 ft ditch through rock hard soil.
Gravity worked. The drip irrigation works!
Now that we have a garden and water we were able to start planting. We planted tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, blue hubbard squash, butternut squash, okra, sunflowers, 18 types of chiles/peppers, basil, arugula, corn, beans, among many things!
We started to build our chicken flock. We acquired 10 chickens from Richcrest Farms, 11 from Suzanne in Dragoon and 12 baby Americuanas from Benson Feed and supply.
